With the advent of the low-carbon era, lighting projects, which are major energy consumers, especially need to save energy and reduce emissions.
Although energy-saving lamps are small, they are of great significance in alleviating the global energy crisis. Wu Changjiang, the chairman of NVC Lighting, one of China's major energy-saving lamp manufacturers, said in a recent interview that the light emitted by a 15W energy-saving lamp is the same as that of a 100W ordinary incandescent lamp, and an LED lamp only needs 1W to 2W to achieve the same effect.
Xie Zhenhua, vice minister of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that this year the government plans to promote at least 150 million energy-saving lamps and strive to replace all incandescent lamps across the country with energy-saving lamps within a few years. At present, the national consumption of incandescent lamps has reached as high as 1.4 billion. The full conversion to energy-saving lamps has enabled lighting enterprises to see the opportunities.
The "low-carbon economy" of energy-saving lighting
Lighting engineering has always been a major energy consumer. According to statistics, public commercial building lighting in China accounts for approximately 60% of the total lighting energy consumption each year, while road lighting accounts for about 15%. If these lighting devices adopt low-energy-consumption products, not only will energy be saved, but also direct economic benefits will be brought about.
In China, electricity consumption for lighting accounts for approximately 12% of the total electricity consumption of the entire society. If all the existing ordinary incandescent bulbs in households were replaced with energy-saving lamps, the country could save over 300 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in a year, and the electricity-saving effect would be close to the power generation of four Gorges Projects. Analyst Li Guangzan from Founder Securities analyzed it as follows.
It is also estimated that if the colorful lights on Christmas trees were replaced with leds, the United States would save at least 2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity each December, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 2 million households. For every 100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity saved, it means saving 40,400 tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 106,400 tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by 900 tons.
Promoting green lighting brings great business opportunities
Xie Zhenhua, vice minister of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Zhang Lijun, vice minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, said that currently, about 1.4 billion incandescent lamps are in use across the country. In 2008 and 2009, 210 million energy-saving lamps were promoted through fiscal subsidies. This year, at least 150 million more energy-saving lamps are planned to be promoted. "When people purchase energy-saving lamps, the government will subsidize 50%." Strive to replace all incandescent lamps across the country with energy-saving lamps within a few years.
