Seoul Semiconductor has entered the LEDTV supply chain with lighting as its focus

Seoul Semiconductor is a major LED packaging manufacturer in South Korea. Since 2008, it has been developing LED chip internalization. It mainly supplies applications such as mobile phones, lighting, and medium and large-sized backlight modules. Among them, its development in mobile phone applications started earlier, followed by that in lighting applications. As for the application of medium and large-sized backlight modules, it ventured into the LED field for NB backlight modules starting from the second quarter of 2008.

Despite the financial crisis in the second half of 2008, Seoul Semiconductor not only did not experience a decline in revenue, but also only reported a loss in the fourth quarter of 2008 during the period from the second half of 2008 to the first half of 2009, when the financial crisis was more severe. This fully demonstrates its excellent operational capabilities.

Due to a significant increase in revenue since the second quarter of 2009 and a record high for a single quarter in the third quarter, Seoul Semiconductor's full-year revenue in 2009 exceeded its historical performance, reaching over 450 billion won (approximately 350 million US dollars). It has set a target of achieving a new high in revenue for 2010, following 2009, at 730 billion won. Moreover, it is planned to achieve even higher profits in 2010, with an estimated operating profit of 88 billion won.

Seoul Semiconductor is optimistic about the LED-backlit LCD TV (hereinafter referred to as LED TV) market. Although it started relatively late in the application of LED TV, with active layout, in 2010, its application of medium and large-sized backlight modules will officially expand from the existing LED NB field to the LED TV field. Against this background, Seoul Semiconductor plans to significantly increase the proportion of medium and large-sized backlight module applications in its total revenue in 2010, and it is expected to be listed as one of the main sources of its revenue along with lighting applications.

In 2010, the equipment investment allocated by Seoul Semiconductor for expanding its LED packaging capacity increased significantly compared to 2009. It also planned to greatly expand its LED chip production capacity to accelerate the pace of LED chip localization. Notably, in 2010, Seoul Semiconductor, whether expanding its LED packaging capacity or developing LED chip localization, All focus on the application of LED TV as one of the key points.
